What does "time to first print" mean?,
12/12/2000
Time to first print is the time taken (at room temperature) for the trailing edge of the first sheet of paper to exit the printer subsequent to the hopping roller beginning rotation.
(1) Starting from the printer in ready state, time taken from the start of engine movement until the complete ejection of first page is recorded in seconds. If the start of engine movement is not clear, the time taken from the moment paper feed starts by hopping roller drive until the injection of the paper into the output tray is recorded in seconds instead. For the purpose of this test, the menu print can be used as the print pattern.
(2) Staring from the printer in quiet state, time taken from the start of menu print operation until the complete ejection of first page is recorded in seconds.
(3) Starting from cold with the printer in power save mode, time taken from the start of menu print operation until the complete ejection of first page is recorded in seconds.
N.B. Measurements should be taken with the above 3 methods given on
the left. If the time is less than 10 seconds, 1 decimal place
should be included. If the value is 10 seconds or more, an integer
may be given instead (e.g. 4.5 seconds, 11 seconds).
The difference between (1) and (2) is the warm up time from quiet mode.
The difference between (1) and (3) is the warmup time from power save mode
