New features - SSL/TLS Encryption (Cipher)
With the OkiLAN 8200e & OkiLAN 510w you can configure encryption for IPP and web communication between the printer and a client PC.
This encryption can be configured via the web page or Admin Manager.
This public key cipher system generates both public keys and private keys and distributes a public key to the client(s). You can choose whether the NIC issues a self signed certificate (public key) or one that is issued and signed by a CA (certificate authority). Using a CA issued certificate is particularly useful when printing over the internet as opposed to an intranet, but the certificate must be purchased from a CA. A CA issued certificate is requested from a CA by completing a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) from the printer web page.
SSL/TLS encryption can be set up via Admin Manager or the web page (from Security-> Cipher (SSL/TLS).
Both self signed and CA issued certificates contain the printers IP address. If the IP address is changed a new certificate will be required.
The certificate information is stored on the flash memory of the main control board. If the main control board is replaced or the NIC is reset to factory default settings the certificate data will be lost.
